I’m currently addicted to this Turmeric Coconut Milk Smoothie! It’s creamy, thick, delicious and it makes for a wonderfully satisfying breakfast!
A friend and I were recently discussing how popular turmeric is in India. We grew up with this spice, whether it was in the east, or here in the west. Our great-grandparents, grandparents and parents used this in their dishes and so, we did too!
Dating back to thousands of years ago to the Vedic culture in India, turmeric is a popular spice that’s always been used in an abundance of Indian dishes.
Turmeric has a remarkable number of health benefits and studies are revealing how effective turmeric can be for an individual’s health.
To list a few of these benefits, turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. In fact, turmeric is so powerful that it matches the effectiveness of some anti-inflammatory drugs.
Turmeric increases the antioxidant capacity of the body, can improve brain function and can lower the risk of brain diseases.
Turmeric may also help prevent and even treat cancer in addition to Alzheimer’s disease.
And, it has incredible benefits against depression!
Turmeric can be purchased at many grocery stores in a powdered form or in it’s natural form (turmeric roots resembles ginger but with an orange color).
Turmeric has a pungent bitter flavor but when paired with the ingredients in this smoothie, it yields a delicious and nutritious meal!
